A Black-spotted Pond Frog (Rana nigromaculata, family Ranidae) sitting at the edge of a montane pond caught a rove beetle (Paederus fuscipes, family Staphylinidae) with the long sticky tongue. But the frog immediately spit it out because the prey had notoriously potent toxin (called pederin, more potent than cobra venom). The poor frog learned lessons the hard way. Early-July 2012 in Japan.
