Muko-nagé (Groom Throw) and Sumi-nuri (Ink Paint) is a traditional event that people bless the marriage and wish for the successful bonding of the husband and wife. It is held in Matsunoyama, Tōkamachi city, Niigata prefecture. People throw the grooms who were married in the previous year, about 5 meters below into snow, paint each other's face with a special ink mixed with ash and snow, and say "Congratulations".
