The special custom boxes were box sets featuring a single figure and lots of accessories. 3 of these were released as well as 2 smaller sets featuring 2 figures. The two existing recordings of this come from October 99 and March 2000, so this suggests the commercial aired during that time. We also get some original animation and voice acting
